COMMANDER | JEN HOLDEN
As we approach the final months of 2024, I wanted to take a moment to reflect on the incredible journey we've shared so far and to look ahead to the exciting events on our horizon.
I'm excited to announce the formation of our new Clubroom Committee! This dedicated group of volunteers will focus on making our Clubroom an even more inviting and vibrant space for all our members and guests. The Clubroom is the heart of our post, a place where we come together to relax, share stories, and enjoy each other's company. The committee will have its first meeting on Aug 31. They are already hard at work planning improvements and events that will enhance our experience in the Clubroom.
But they can’t do it alone—they need your input and support! If you have suggestions or would like to get involved, please reach out to any committee member. Together, we can make our Clubroom an even better place to gather and enjoy the camaraderie that makes Post 149 so special.
It is with mixed emotions that I announce our longtime Chaplain, Chuck Faupel, will be moving to Wyoming this coming October. Chuck has been a pillar of Post 149, contributing countless hours and bringing an incredible spirit to everything he does. While we will miss him greatly, we want to send him off with all the love and gratitude he deserves. Please join us on October 4, 2024, at 5 p.m. on the patio for a special going-away party in his honor. Let’s make this a memorable evening for Chuck as he embarks on this new chapter of his life.
Now, let’s talk about something a bit more light-hearted—our upcoming Comedy Night! On Sept. 21, 2024, we’ll be hosting a fun-filled evening of laughter and camaraderie at the post. The tickets are available on Eventbrite. This event is not just about having a good time (though we certainly will!); it’s also a fundraiser to support our ongoing Post programs. Your participation helps us provide essential services to those who have served our country, and what better way to contribute than by sharing a night of humor and joy with friends?
We have a fantastic lineup of comedians who are ready to bring the house down, and there will be a dinner before the first act starts. There will also be plenty of drinks, laughs, and opportunity drawings/prizes to keep the evening lively. Tickets are available now, and I encourage you to invite your friends, family, and neighbors. Let’s fill the room and show our community what Post 149 is all about!
As we move forward, I encourage each of you to stay involved and connected. Whether it's through attending our meetings, volunteering at events, or simply spreading the word about the work we do, your contributions are what make our post strong.
Thank you for your continued dedication to Post 149 and to the American Legion’s mission. Together, we can achieve great things and make a lasting impact on our community and our fellow veterans. For God and Country!
