COMMANDER | JEN HOLDEN

Greetings, Legionnaires!

As we begin a new year, it’s a great time to reflect on the core principles that make the American Legion what it is. Our mission is guided by the Four Pillars of the American Legion, which have been the foundation of our organization since its inception in 1919.

The Four Pillars of the American Legion:

  1. Veterans Affairs & Rehabilitation: We are committed to ensuring that all veterans receive the support, healthcare, and benefits they have earned. Our advocacy continues for better services, especially for those transitioning to civilian life.
  2. National Security: Supporting a strong national defense and standing behind those who serve in our Armed Forces remains a top priority. We engage in programs and initiatives to bolster readiness and recognize the sacrifices of those who serve.
  3. Americanism: Promoting patriotism, civic engagement, and responsible citizenship through youth programs, flag education, and community service keeps the spirit of American pride alive.
  4. Children & Youth: We aim to support young people by sponsoring scholarships, youth sports, and mentoring programs. Our mission ensures that children of veterans and others in need have a supportive environment to thrive.

The purpose of JB Clark Post 149 is to uphold these pillars through active community engagement and support for our veterans, their families, and the community. Each of you plays a critical role in this mission, and I am grateful for your continued dedication and service.

A Call for Nominations: First Vice Commander

As we prepare for the upcoming year, we are seeking nominations for the position of First Vice Commander. This role is essential to the operations of our Post, focusing on membership growth and retention — the backbone of our Legion’s strength.

The First Vice Commander’s Responsibilities Include:

  • Membership Engagement: Recruiting new members and ensuring current members feel welcomed and involved.
  • Supporting the Commander: Stepping in when the Commander is unavailable and providing crucial leadership support.

A strong First Vice Commander helps ensure that Post 149 remains vibrant and effective in serving veterans and the community. If you or someone you know has a passion for leadership and service, consider submitting a nomination. We need your voice, commitment, and leadership to carry our mission forward.

To nominate a member for the 1st Vice Commander office please attend the Jan. 21, 2025 General Meeting. For more information, please contact me or the Adjutant.

Let’s make 2025 a year of growth, service, and commitment to our fellow veterans and community. Thank you for your unwavering support. For God and Country.
