POST 149 ADJUTANT | BILL STINTSMAN
Is it hot enough, yet? We don’t have to be Weather Channel experts to know that the weather has been anything but “normal” for quite a few years. From the unprecedented inches of rain to the wild Sierra Mountain range snow totals to the excessive nationwide summer heat that seems to never end, we are all bound by the common fact that the weather is driving everyone nuts in one way or another, that’s why we always talk about it. What is something else that we always seem to talk about? Yes, that’s right, renewing your membership. I do this because it’s part of my job, and I am doing my part. Please do your part and renew. Whether you renew in person, by mail, or online, the dues are split three ways. A portion of each renewal ($16.50) goes to the Post, with $33.50 being split by the Department of California and National Headquarters to fund various programs within the organization. So, your dues go to more than just the Post.
Since August is here, I will not be in the office much this month. As many of us experienced in our military careers, the job came before the family more often than not. In today’s era, the days of military service mentality of ‘career before family’ are behind us. I am welcoming a new addition to my family this month and will be participating in those grandparent duties. Although I will not be immediately tending to things around the Post, someone will be able to figure out the important stuff.
